Summit County Public Access Defibrillation Project

Our mission, described simply:

"The Summit County Public Access Defibrillation Project proposes to improve the survival rate from sudden cardiac arrest for the residents and visitors of Summit County Colorado through the development and implementation of a comprehensive multifaceted Public Access Defibrillation (PAD) program in our community."

A brief history:

Summit County Public Access Defibrillation Project, now known as 'Keep the Beat Summit', began in 2004.  Summit County Ambulance Service, in conjunction with Summit County Sheriff's Office, applied for and received grant funding provided by the US Department of Health and Human Services to place Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) in our community.  Over the three-year life of the grant, the Keep the Beat Summit project was able to deploy more then 180 AEDs throughout our community and trained more than 1,000 lay-rescuers in CPR and AED use.

Into the future:

The Keep the Beat Summit project continues on today!  This web site serves as a reference for project participants as well as a description of the program we have developed.
